Chlorinations
Chlornations and disinfections of pipework systems and storage vessels is very important in the water management of bacteria. On installation of new pipework a chlorination and flush is required to remove debris and substances that will form biofilms which protect bacteria allowing its development. New water mains also require chlorinations and certification before the water authority will allow connection.
Chlorinations are also used in the water management process for example if certain risks on water services in a building are identified as part of the action plan a chlorination will be recommended. In order to maintain water hygiene in buildings it is important to consider cleansing and chlorinating water storage vessels, calorifiers ( water cylinders) and shower heads. For example a water storage system over a period of time may contain debris and sediment that could harbour colonisation of harmful bacteria and showerheads give the legionella bacteria an easy route to aerosol, which could possibly lead to inhalation of the harmful bacteria and then on to legionaires disease.
Scale and rust in systems can provide bacteria with nutrients to develop this is which is why it is important to have your water storage regularly inspected and maintained.
Sweetbriar Ltd carry out all different types of storage cleansing to comply with relevant guidleines such as ACOP L8 and BS6700. All staff are trained and qualified by BPEC and Legonella Control and National Water Hygiene Card.
Once a chlorination has taken place water samples are taken and analysed at our UkAS approved Laboratory and a certification of Chlorination is produced.
